SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - This weekend was the pheasant hunting opener for South Dakota residents only. A gun show in Sioux Falls on Saturday and Sunday was filled with chatter about hunting season and the outlook for gun collectors.
Every hunting season begins with drumming up excitement and getting the right equipment. Gun shows are one of many avenues to do just that, but also get youth interested in guns.
Firearms, ammo and accessories filled the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds Expo Center for the Jim Aplan Memorial Gun Show, hosted by the Dakota Territory Gun Collectors Association. Their association hopes to encourage the next generation of gun enthusiasts and hunters to use the show to learn about gun training and safety.
