A double shakeup at the top of the Haverhill Police department may only add to the community’s concerns over the integrity of the city’s law enforcement, according to an expert.
On Thursday now-former Haverhill Police Chief Robert Pistone Jr. resigned, citing “the best interests of the city and the department going forward,” after a police union vote of no-confidence in his management ability. The union said their vote represented a “sincere and urgent call for oversight, accountability, and leadership” at the department.
