UNIVERSITY CIRCLE, Ohio (WJW) -- The University Circle Police Department wants to help make sure everyone is able to protect themselves.

University Circle Police Chief Tom Wetzel said the department will be providing a free Disabilities Self-Defense and Awareness class for persons with physical challenges. The program will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on December 4 the department's community room, 10831 Magnolia Drive, Cleveland.

“My law enforcement career inspired my jiu-jitsu journey and co-owning Grindstone Jiu Jitsu, driving this program to empower individuals with physical challenges with self-defense skills," said Officer Jeremy Prokop, the instructor for the program. "It’s deeply personal because their triumphs reflect my own, showing strength transcends all barriers.”
