CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — Intense rain in Chandler today forced a church to cancel Sunday services.

The severe weather caused part of the roof to cave in at the Iglesia Vida Hispanic Church on Elliot Road.

In the above video, you can see rainwater seeping through bags placed in the ceiling to minimize flooding. The church also had to use buckets to catch the water.

The church has been around for 15 years, and although its roof is older, the pastor said he’s never seen damage like this. Iglesia Vida serves about 450 people in the Chandler community. Sunday services had to be canceled to keep parishioners safe.
