NSW Health has urged patients of a Sydney dentist to get tested for blood-borne viruses after his practice was found to not meet cleaning standards.
Safuan Hasic operated as a sole practitioner based at 70 Victoria Avenue in Mortdale, in the city’s southwest, until he was found to have practiced “poor cleaning and inadequate sterilisation of dental equipment”.
The state’s health department has been able to reach some, but not all of Hasic’s patients, urging all to be tested for “blood-borne viruses, such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV”.
“Any current or former patients of Mr Hasic should see their GP as soon as possible and ask to be tested for blood borne viruses as a precautionary measure,” Dr Vicky Sheppeard, Director of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District’s Public Health
