BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Two people were shot near LSU’s campus Saturday night while thousands celebrated the homecoming game just down the road at Tiger Stadium.

The shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. as Baton Rouge police were helping with crowd control after deciding to shut down Highland Road. An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were injured in the incident, which marked the second shooting on a Tiger gameday in less than a month.

“No traffic were able to come onto LSU campus, then officers got out on foot, and we were pushing the crowd, and as we were pushing the crowd in an attempt to clear the area, shots were fired, multiple shots,” said Lieutenant L’Jean McKneely with the Baton Rouge Police Department.
