MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Your downtown commute may look a little different as the John Nolen Drive reconstruction project begins on Monday.

Change is coming for a road that sees around 45,000 trips a day. Starting Monday, orange barrels will take over John Nolen Drive. The northbound lanes will be closed, and traffic will be moved to one lane each way coming in and out of downtown.

Madison’s Assistant Director of Traffic Engineering Tom Mohr said the project will stretch from East Lake Street to South Broom Street.

“It’s going to be a full reconstruction of the roadway as well as all of the existing roadway bridges,” Mohr said.

He explained the impact of the reconstruction.
