MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A national campaign calling for an end to solitary confinement made a stop in Madison this weekend, bringing immersive exhibits and first-hand stories.

The “Journey to Justice” bus tour is traveling through 17 cities over eight weeks, led by formerly incarcerated advocates and community organizers who say solitary confinement remains a widespread and inhumane practice across U.S. jails and prisons.

“This bus is a part of a national campaign to advocate against the continued use of solitary confinement in our jails and in our prisons nationwide,” said James Morgan, a community organizer with MOSES Madison, a local affiliate of the WISDOM network. “Once this bus leaves Madison, Wisconsin today, it will have visited 18 different states throughout the country.”
