Festive spirit has helped save a much-loved Christmas tradition for one Coastal town.

It's been five years since the last Christmas parade graced the streets of Latrobe, but thanks to some jolly volunteers, the event will be making a return this festive season.

Latrobe Lions Club president Robert Sims said he had noticed chatter online about how residents had the return of the parade at the top of their festive wish list.

Mr Sims contacted the council and organised a public meeting to recruit volunteers to get the parade back up and running.

"We thought we'd give it a go," he said.

"It's a fantastic community event."

The Christmas Parade, which will be held on Gilbert Street on December 20, coincides with the Lions Club's carols event on the same night.
