Union Minister and BJP MP from Thrissur, Kerala, Suresh Gopi has expressed his desire to resign from his post. At an event in Kannur, he said, "I want to restart my acting career; I need a higher income. After becoming a minister, my earnings have completely stopped."

Gopi added that he never prayed to become a minister. Even a day before the elections, he had told journalists that he did not want to be a minister and wanted to continue in his cinema career. He suggested that C. Sadanandan Master, a Rajya Sabha MP, should be made the union minister in his place.
