Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday challenged West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's statement regarding the departure time of a second-year medical student from a private medical college in Durgapur, West Burdwan district, who subsequently fell victim to gang-rape. CM Banerjee on Sunday stated the victim left the college premises at 12.30 am, conflicting with the institution's recorded exit time. She also made remarks on girls venturing out at night that drew criticism from opposition.
