A: Ontario minimum wage increases became law as of Oct. 1.

The increases were based on the Ontario Consumer Price Index, which measures changes in the cost of specific food items such as frozen beef/chicken, eggs, and dairy products.

David Piccini, the minister of labour, immigration, training, and skills development, acknowledged that families across Ontario are feeling the pressures of inflation and global economic uncertainty.

Piccini says raising the minimum wage is aimed at supporting the workforce.
