21million people across the UK will find themselves using an out-of-date operating system on their computers from Tuesday, October 14. Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 this week, meaning security updates will stop and devices will be more vulnerable to attack from hackers and viruses.

The company is urging everyone to get a free upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible. Consumer guide Which? says there could be 21million people still using Windows 10 in the UK. Of those looking to upgrade, one in seven will get a new computer rather than install new operating software.

You can also sign up to get extended security updates for the next 12 months, by going to settings and looking under 'Privacy and Security'. Extended Security Updates, external (ESU) do not offer any tech
