Jammu, Oct 13: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sought additional time to take a final decision on granting prosecution sanction against IAS officers allegedly involved in the Arms Licences Scam.
The development came after the MHA filed a fresh affidavit in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL No. 09/2012) — Sheikh Mohammad Shafi and Another vs Union of India and Others — before the Jammu Wing of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.
According to the affidavit, following a Division Bench order on August 7, 2025, a meeting was held on August 27 under the chairmanship of the Additional Secretary (UT), with officials from the J&K Government and the CBI present, to deliberate on the CBI’s proposal for sanctioning prosecution against IAS officers named in the FIR.
