SHREVEPORT, La. — Two people were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after fire crews rescued them from a house fire early Monday morning.

The Shreveport Fire Department received multiple emergency calls at 1:45 a.m. Monday reporting a house fire in the 3100 block of Milton Street. The first unit on the scene arrived within three minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home.

All but two of the people inside were able to get out on their own before SFD arrived.

Officials confirmed that working smoke alarms were present in the home at the time of the fire.

The fire remains under investigation.
