FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - On Sunday, the Fort Wayne Zoo shared it is mourning the loss of a long-time ambassador animal, 15-year-old Naya the dingo.

Officials say Naya had been a “treasured” piece of the Australian Adventure and a “remarkable” ambassador for her species since she arrived at the zoo in 2010.

Naya made Fort Wayne Zoo history back in 2012 after she and her mate Mattie welcomed the second-ever dingo litter born at the zoo.

Naya’s legacy also lives on through our conservation partnership with Greening Australia, helping protect the fragile habitats that wild dingoes call home.

We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated professionals who cared for Naya and continue to care for the 1,500 animals who call our Zoo home. And to our community—thank you for your continued support
