A retired forester from Aksharshila village under Barkote police limits in Deogarh district was arrested after the Forest Department seized over 100 peacock feathers and a deer skin from his residence.

Acting on a tip-off, a Forest Department team raided the house of Kishore Chandra Pradhan and recovered the wildlife items. Officials confirmed the seizure and stated that the accused violated provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act.

The raid revealed illegal possession of protected animal parts, including a deer hide and numerous peacock feathers. The Forest Department arrested the accused and plans to produce him in court after a medical examination.

Arun Kumar Behera, Additional Forest Conservator of Deogarh, said the department will follow legal procedures and ensure strict action.
