MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Speeding, reckless driving, drive-out tags, and impaired driving. These are traffic violations the Memphis Police Department's Traffic Division is cracking down on. FOX13 got an exclusive look into how officers are catching violators.

MPD's traffic division is comprised of 4 units: the Motorcycle Unit, DUI, the Special Traffic Investigation Unit (STIS), and the Special Traffic Enforcement Unit (STEU). FOX13 rode along with MPD's Motorcycle Unit, led by Lt. Mario Tate.

Lt. Tate told FOX13 the goals between all units and shifts are the same.

"Our goal is just to slow the drivers down, make sure, in addition to speeding, they're not swerving in and out of traffic," said Lt. Tate. “Things like speeding, reckless driving, drive out tags, and impaired driving.”
