Reckless riding on Lincoln’s trails has caught the attention of cyclists like Susan Rodenburg.
A serious biker for more than 40 years, Rodenburg said she’s seen many unauthorized motorbikes zoom past her at high speeds — and she’s waiting for an accident to happen.
“I’m afraid a fox is going to get run over,” Rodenburg said. “And that’s an animal — it could be a kid. That would just be devastating for a community.”
Edie Matteson, president of the Great Plains Bicycling Club, said she recently encountered a motorized bike, too.
“I don’t know what you would call it, but it definitely didn’t belong on the trails,” Matteson said.
Cyclists like Rodenburg and Matteson are calling for more to be done to keep Lincoln's trails safe amid a surge in e-bikes and motorbikes.
