(WYTV) - The Continental Congress decided to print our first money just days after the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775.

It hired 28 people to sign and number two million dollars worth of currency.

Our first one-cent piece appeared in 1792. It was as big as a quarter with Lady Liberty's picture.

Abraham Lincoln replaced Lady Liberty on the penny in 1909, and then other presidents followed on later coins.

Ever wonder why we see only dead presidents or founding fathers on our bills?

The Treasury issued a five-cent paper note in 1864 with Spenser Clark's picture on it.

Who's Spenser Clark?

Clark ran the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and wanted to promote himself. Congress said we'll never do that again.

In God We Trust finally appeared on our money in 1957 -- the dollar bill said so.
