U.S. President Donald Trump was welcomed Monday at the Israeli parliament as he visited Israel to celebrate the U.S.-brokered cease-fire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas.

AP reporter Darlene Superville was in the room at the Knesset.

“I’m seated in the gallery right now of the Israeli Knesset, or parliament, where any moment now President Donald Trump will appear to deliver an address celebrating the cease-fire deal that the United States brokered between Israel and Hamas and the release of hostages,” Superville said.

Superville traveled with Trump on Air Force One and witnessed the warm welcome from Israelis.

"On the way to Israel, Air Force One flew over the beach in Tel Aviv where the president was able to see a sign that was written in the sand that said 'Thank you, Trump,'" added Superville.

"A lot of the people here in Israel who are just over the moon excited that hostages are coming home and that some semblance of peace may be coming to the region."

The moment remains fragile, with Israel and Hamas still in the early stages of implementing the first phase of the plan intended to end the conflict that began on Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas-led militants.
