Detroit Lions Safety Brian Branch is breaking his silence on the on-field brawl that happened after Sunday Night Football’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

After the game, the 23-year-old defensive back appeared to ignore a handshake request by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes . He then seemingly went straight to Chiefs Wide Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster , and delivered what appeared to be a smack that sent him to the ground.

A skirmish then ensued.

“I did a real childish thing. I’m tired of people doing stuff in between plays and refs don’t catch it. They be trying to bully me out there. I shouldn’t have did it, it was childish,” Branch told The Athletic ’s Colton Pouncy after the game.
