LAYTON — Two men were arrested Saturday for allegedly trafficking drugs.

Arnulfo Ruiz Mendez, 32, and Gabriel Edwin Mendez Franco, 22, were booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of attempting to distribute controlled substances after police and the FBI were notified of an arranged delivery of a "substantial amount of methamphetamine," according to a police booking affidavit.

Ruiz and Franco had allegedly arranged a delivery at the Hilton Garden Inn in Layton through a contact residing in Mexico. Agents with the Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force and the FBI set up in the area were able to follow the two men to a room where the delivery took place, the affidavit said.
