One home was destroyed and three others damaged in a wind driven fire in Dewey Beach that was reported around 3 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025.
The two and a half story home in the first block of Carolina Street was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
A total of nine Sussex County fire companies responded to the scene.
Three firefighters suffered minor injuries. All were treated at Beebe Medical Center and released.
Rehoboth Beach fire officials said an excavator was eventually brought in to assist firefighters in extinguishing hot spots.
The Delaware Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
