Paul Gascoigne has revealed he faked an injury during England's run to the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup.

Gascoigne recalls leaving the national team boss furious after one interaction in between matches.

The former midfielder scored twice in six appearances at the tournament, which turned out to be the only World Cup of his career.

Having been handed his international debut by Robson two years earlier, Gascoigne emerged as a key man for the Three Lions in Italy.

He played every minute up until their semi-final defeat against Germany.
