OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - On this day in 2001, three high school students and one adult were killed in a bus crash in Omaha.

The driver of the bus lost control in a work zone on West Dodge around 164th Street, hit a guardrail, and plunged off the bridge into the creek below.

The bus was carrying 27 Seward High School band members and three adults.

Three students and one adult were killed in the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board put the blame on the Nebraska Department of Roads for failing to correct the hazardous construction zone, narrow lanes, and speed limits.
