A 23-year-old man fell about two stories in the abandoned Longmont sugar factory Sunday night, prompting a multi-agency rescue.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, a man called 911 and said he fell inside the sugar factory on Sugar Mill Road and sustained injuries, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office press release. Responding officials flew a drone to find the man, before sawing through an exterior wall to rescue him.

Once out of the structure, he was taken to a hospital with severe injuries to his face and limbs, the press release states.

Several other people were cited for trespassing after being found at the factory property, according to the release. BCSO warned that this incident should act as a deterrent for those thinking about trespassing on the sugar factory’s grounds.
