Highway 97 in Central Washington is closed in both directions at the summit of Blewett Pass after a heavy snowfall Monday morning, the Washington State Department of Transportation said.
Semitrucks are stuck and blocking the roadway, Washington State Patrol said.
Some 8 to 12 inches of snow was expected over Sunday night through Monday morning, the National Weather Service’s Spokane office said on X.
It isn’t clear how much snow accumulated, but WSDOT reports it is currently “snowing hard.”
There is no estimated time of reopening, WSDOT said.
The pass, which connects Leavenworth and Ellensburg, had been closed for weeks due to a major wildfire. The pass had reopened last week before the snowfall.
