ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — While the weather has been relatively warm in Rochester this fall, winter is still approaching. For those with outdoor gardens, it's best to prepare for cold temperatures now rather than wait to take action once it arrives.

News 8 spoke with the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Monroe County to discuss what gardeners should do to keep their soil and plants protected. Even for conditions such as frost, it's important to stay cautious.

"There are lots of crops that can withstand low temperatures things like beets, and carrots, and lots of your cold hearty brassicas.
