GREEN BAY — Head coach Matt LaFleur distributed only one game ball in the aftermath of his Green Bay Packers’ 27-18 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
It didn’t go to quarterback Jordan Love, who threw for 259 yards and had a 101.3 passer rating on the day.
It wasn’t given to rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden, who had the most productive game of his young NFL career, with three receptions for 86 yards on five targets.
And it wasn’t bestowed upon running back Josh Jacobs, who’d accounted for 150 yards from scrimmage (93 rushing, 57 receiving) and scored two of the Packers’ three touchdowns on the day — all while battling some sort of flu bug that had him throwing up before, during and after the game.
Normally, that kind of grit would earn a guy a game ball
