AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) - The Amarillo Police Department released information on a Sunday incident in which one person was arrested and two people were injured, after a fight allegedly broke out on South Pierce Street and "turned into a shooting."

Officers reported to the 2900 block of South Pierce Street at around 2:21 a.m. on Sunday, according to police, and found a man on the ground near a car with a gunshot wound.

The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital "in life-threatening condition," according to police.

Police said officers learned two women allegedly got involved in a physical fight at a gathering that evening. As the two women were wrestling over a knife, one allegedly "bit a portion of the other's ear off."
