With one or two tide cycles still remaining under diminishing nor'easter conditions, Sussex County officials said they are "very fortunate" regarding flooding thus far.

"I think each of the tide cycles underperformed," said Robert Murray, Director of Public Safety for Sussex County. "In at least one case, there was talk of the potential of it nearing record high tidal, and each cycle that we've seen thus far, what was projected we actually came up a little bit short, which was good."

The fear of high winds backstopping low-tide cycles did not materialize as feared.

"I think the low tides we were able to maybe get rid of some of that water so that the following high tides weren't as compounding of a problem that we were potentially anticipating," he said.
