DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers quietly extended the contract of manager A.J. Hinch for a second time earlier this season.

Scott Harris, the Tigers’ president of baseball operations, made the announcement on Monday during an end-of-season press conference.

The terms and length of the deal were not disclosed.

Hinch, 51, just completed his fifth season and has led the Tigers to back-to-back playoff appearances, both times exiting in Game 5 of the AL Division Series.

Harris previously extended Hinch’s contract after the 2023 season.
