DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers strengthened their pitching depth at the trade deadline but didn’t land any stars.

Most of their additions fell flat, and when Detroit’s season unraveled in September, the criticism landed squarely on Scott Harris. The Tigers’ president of baseball operations spent much of Monday’s end-of-season press conference revisiting what went wrong -- and why he doesn’t regret the moves he didn’t make.

For a refresher, the Tigers acquired starting pitchers Chris Paddack and Charlie Morton and relievers Kyle Finnegan , Rafael Montero and Paul Sewald .

They also added minor-leaguers Codi Heuer , who pitched briefly in the big leagues for the Tigers and Randy Dobak, who didn’t.
