House hunters are turning away from older properties , put off by worries about mould, maintenance and leaky roofs. In a survey of 1,000 people looking to buy, 44% said they’re eyeing up new builds, while just 30% are considering older properties.
Concerns about unreliable heating, and potential issues like asbestos are putting people off. Over half say they like the convenience of a modern home, and nearly a third want to avoid the hassle of getting stuck in a property chain.
