UEFA have announced just one match will be played on the opening Tuesday night of the 2027/28 season.

That match will see the defending European champions open that season's competition when the league phase begins in a major revamp to the Champions League's usual format.

Meanwhile, the remaining 17 matchweek one fixtures will be spread across the Wednesday and Thursday nights.

The change will be in place from the 2027/28 season, with next season's Champions League winners being the first to raise the curtain on the following campaign.

It remains to be seen whether the remaining Champions League game weeks will follow suit or be played across the usual Tuesday and Wednesday night format.
