Kansas City, Mo. — The Detroit Lions saw a short-handed unit get weaker in Sunday night’s 30-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, as safety Kerby Joseph aggravated a knee injury that was visibly hampering him throughout the game.
The Lions were without several of their top five cornerbacks in a contest against one of the best quarterbacks of his generation, Patrick Mahomes, and paid the price dearly. In a defensive showing that was reminiscent of some poor stretches last season, Mahomes picked apart the Lions, going 22-for-30 for 257 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
