A Scots gran is fighting for her life in Croatia after falling unconscious on an Edinburgh-bound flight home from Turkey.

Gina Thomson, from Dundee, had been flying back to Scotland on September 9 after a week-long holiday with pals when she became unresponsive on the plane.

The aircraft, heading to Edinburgh Airport, was forced to divert nearly 1,500 miles away to Zagreb in Croatia for the 66-year-old grandmother to receive urgent medical care.

Heroic members of the cabin crew worked on Gina for around 45 minutes before the plane landed at Zagreb Airport. She was rushed to hospital and placed on a ventilator in intensive care, reports the Record .
