The deaths of two men who died in custody at a police station at the centre of the Sheku Bayoh tragedy are to be examined by a sheriff.

Stephen 'Spike' Campbell, 50, and Marc Hamilton, 36, died in separate incidents after being taken into Kirkcaldy station in Fife. Mr Hamilton was found dead in his cell by officers on September 18, 2020. He was due to appear in court the same day after he had been charged with an alleged stabbing a day prior.

He died after being held in custody overnight. Less than two years later, Mr Campbell died at the station on February 23, 2022. It is understood that the dad suffered a medical episode while waiting to be questioned by officers over an alleged robbery, reports the Daily Record .
