Lyon County League Tournament
The Olpe High School girls volleyball team lost to Marais des Cygnes Valley in the championship match, notching a second-place finish.
The Lady Eagles nearly ran the table, defeating Burlingame, Northern Heights and Lebo in pool play, and then getting by Waverly in the first round of bracket play, but fell to the Lady Trojans — ranked number two in 1A Division II in the last Kansas Volleyball Association rankings — 25-14, 25-14 in the final.
MdCV sophomore Emily Criqui drilled 18 kills and registered a .600 hitting percentage against Olpe, while Lilly Skalsky led the Lady Eagles with nine kills. She logged a .400 hitting percentage.
“I am so proud of how hard these ladies played on Saturday!” said Olpe coach Crystal Heins in an email.
