DECATUR — Southern Illinois sent eight girls golfers to Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur for the Class 1A state tournament.

Half of them finished inside the top 30, led by Carterville sophomore Merryn Elliott in third place with a total score of 152. Elliott shot a 76 in both rounds.
