SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) -- A Sarasota man was sentenced to four decades in prison for shooting at paramedics and trying to frame a juvenile relative for the crime.

Tyran Young, 38, summoned paramedics to his location on Jan. 7, 2019, and opened fire at the ambulance, striking it twice.

Young tried to blame the shooting on an underage relative "to seek leniency on separate felony charges." He was due to start a one-year prison sentence the day after the shooting took place. Prosecutors said his cellphone searches "mirrored the automated 911 message" received by authorities and he was linked to a similar call in 2018, which they believed to have been a “dry run.”
