Ron Ingram is retiring as the Alabama High School Athletic Association's (AHSAA) communications director, the AHSAA announced on Monday.

According to the AHSAA, Ingram's retirement will be effective December 31. He has worked for the AHSAA since 2007, after a lengthy journalism career starting in 1975.

"It's a mixed feeling," Ingram said in a statement. "It's something I've been doing for 54 years, one way or another. Things are going to be different. I'm going to be using my time in a different way. It's going to be a challenge for me. I'm ready to start spending more time with my family, with my wife and children and grandchildren and doing some of the things I needed to do more of during my career."
