The owner of a long-running apparel, jewelry and home goods shop in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood has died.

Jack Mathis, co-owner of lifestyle shop, Work the Metal died Sunday. He was 61.

"With deep sadness and respect to our employees and our community who mourn our beloved Jack, Work the Metal is closed today, Monday, October 13, 2025," read a Monday post on the business' social media pages . "This is a great loss for us, as it is for many of you."
