When Pius Suter arrived in Vancouver this week, he did so in a much different position than when he became a Canuck in 2023.

Back then, Suter was trying to prove himself in the NHL. He was coming off a 24-point season in Detroit and averaged just a few ticks over 14 minutes on the ice. He signed a two-year contract with Vancouver worth $1.6 million per season to become a supporting forward on a team that won the Pacific Division.

Now, with St. Louis, Suter is counted on to be one of the reasons the Blues can return to the playoffs. Signed to a two-year deal worth an average of $4.125 million per season, Suter will be counted on to be a defensive conscience, to play on both special teams units and (at times) spell Brayden Schenn as the second-line center.
