(WHTM) - Penn State Athletic Director Pat Kraft's decision to fire head football coach James Franklin will be a costly one. The question for many is, who will foot the bill?
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Penn State owes Franklin more than $49 million, the second-largest buyout in college football history.
On Monday, Kraft confirmed that the athletic department will handle the financials, not the university, which is facing the closure of several branch campuses.
