(WJET/WFXP)-- In the wake of a fatal house fire in the City of Erie over the weekend, firefighters offered their praise to a good dog who helped prevent further tragedy.

Erie firefighters said Kilo, the 10-year-old American Pitbull who lived with the two victims of the fire on East 24th Street early Saturday morning, must've sensed something was off and started to alert them.

Kilo kept trying to wake up the other person living in the house as the fire broke out, and thanks to him, firefighters said the rescued victim was able to make it out before smoke and flames could spread to their room.
