RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - South Dakota’s First Lady Sandy Rhoden is looking to recognize South Dakotans that bring a positive light to their communities. To do that she is seeking nominations for the first ever South Dakota Rising Award.

There are multiple categories of ‘Rising Stars’ recognizing different characteristics of strength including:

Healthy Rising Stars: Those who have made a positive life change both physically and mentally that serves as a model to others.

Innovative Rising Stars: Those who have started something new in their community to help others or improve others’ quality of life.

Servant Rising Stars: Those who have sacrificed time and treasure to pour into others to improve their quality of life.

Sturdy Rising Stars: Those who have taken risks to make a positive
