WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - Another Eastern Carolina city is looking at lowering its electric rates.
Washington City Council has on its agenda tonight a proposal to cut rates by 10% for all customers.
City Manager Jonathan Russell says the North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency this summer paid off a 40-year debt. Washington and other publicly-owned power systems buy their electricity through that agency.
Last Tuesday, Kinston voted to lower its rates by 4% across the board.
Other cities that get their power from the same agency have yet to take any action.
