GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Troopers continue to investigate a deadly crash after the victim’s body was found in a tree.

The crash happened around 7:30 Sunday morning on Fort Run Road near Peanut Road, west of Snow Hill.

The Highway Patrol says it is still looking into whether 27-year-old Makaylah Dixon was driving the SUV or was a passenger.

Trooper A.H. Batchelor says the eastbound SUV ran off the right side of the highway, over-corrected, went back on the road, and then ran off the other side of the road. The vehicle hit a ditch and overturned several times in a peanut field.

The Snow Hill woman was thrown from the crash, and her body landed about six feet in the tree, according to Trooper Batchelor.
